Our Life

The Hubbies

We both joined a club called Hawaii Upward Bound.  We have aquired many new friends and a lot of knowledge.  We spend the summer at Leeward Community College and dormed at the Unversity of Hawaii.  We ate Marriot food which one of our friends, Michael Autida, said "Marriot food is da bomb."  During the school year we attend Saturday Academy, which is like school.  Upward Bound is really cool and fun.  You learn about scholarship information, information about getting into college, tips and practice for the SAT, and other important college information.  To get into Upward Bound you have sign up for it, sign out its application forms, qualify, be interviewed, and then enter a trial period where you test it out for a while and when it is finished, you choose to stay in or GET OUT.  To qualify your family must not make too much money.  You have to be serious about attending college and do just about anything to help out you chances in getting in.   Hard work and a lot of studing is required for your benefit.

The staff members are really cool.  The director of the program is David Kong.  He is a former Upward Bound member and has been working with the program for a very long time.  The reason he continues to work with Upward Bound is because the program has helped change his life and is striving to do the same for the members of Upward Bound.  The Academic Specialist is Barbara Donohue.  She has worked with the new members since we were first introduced and has taught us a lot.  The Guidence Specialist is James Oda.  He has help us a lot along the line of applying to college and for giving us information on applying for scholarships.  The staff are a great bunch of people.  But there are more people how volenteer their time to help us out acedemically to help us succeed.  We just want to express our thanks to everybody involved with Upward Bound.

Owa song:

(During the summer)

"Dimelo"

by: Voices of Theory

He dado demaciado
lo que he podido dar
si las aguas se enfurecen
cojeras miedo a nadar?
intercambiaremos nuestros lazos
eres tan especial
te quiero dar todo de mi
quriendote mas y mas (bis)
